Exodus 33 describes the continuation of Moses's relationship with God after the idolatry of the golden calf. In this chapter Moses asks God to accompany him and guide the people of Israel on the journey to the promised land, and God promises that His presence will go with them. Deuteronomy 31:8: "The Lord, for it is the one who goes before you; He will be with you, will not let you, nor will you forsaken you; Here we see God's promise to Joshua, successor of Moses, that his presence will go with him in the leadership of the people.
