Isaiah 31 talks about the confidence of the children of Israel in alliances with other peoples and not in God, and the consequence of it. The chapter warns that the Lord is powerful to save and that the Israelites must rely on Him rather than rely on human alliances. Below are five verses related to the topics addressed in Isaiah 31:
Psalm 20:7 - "Some trust cars, some in horses; we, we will mention the name of the Lord our God." This verse highlights the importance of trust in God rather than trusting human forces, as is Isaiah 31.
Proverbs 21:31 - "The horse prepares for battle day, but victory comes from the Lord." Like Isaiah 31, this verse highlights the importance of trusting God for victory rather than trusting human forces.
Jeremiah 17:5-6 - "Thus saith the Lord: Damn the man who trusts in man, and makes the flesh his arm, and separate his heart of the Lord! For it will be like the lonely shrub in the wilderness, and will not see when GOOD COMES; Before, it will live in the dry places of the desert, in the salted and uninhabitable earth. " This verse warns against trusting men and flesh instead of trusting God.
Hosea 14:3 - "Assyria will not save us; we will not ride in horses, and to the work of our hands we no longer say: You are our God; for in you the orphan reaches mercy." This verse highlights the importance of trusting God rather than relying on human alliances.
Zechariah 4:6 - "Not by force or violence, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts." This verse highlights the importance of trusting in the power of the Holy Spirit rather than relying on human forces, just as Isaiah 31 warns against trusting human alliances.
