1 Samuel, 1

23. Elkanah her husband then said to her, 'Do what you think fit; wait until you have weaned him. May Yahweh bring about what he has said.' So the woman stayed behind and nursed her child until she weaned him.

Verses related to 1 Samuel, 1:

1 Samuel 1 tells the story of Ana, a sterile woman who fervently prayed for a son. God answered his supplications and she gave birth to Samuel, who later became a great prophet of Israel. Here are five verses related to topics covered in this chapter:

Psalm 113:9: "He makes the barren dwell at home as the mother of children. Hallelujah!" This verse talks about how God can perform miracles in people's lives, including giving children to those who are sterile, as with Ana.

Genesis 25:21: "Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because he was sterile. The Lord heard his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived." This verse shows another example of a sterile couple who prayed to God for a child and was attended to.

1 Samuel 2:1: "Then Hannah prayed and said," My heart exulted in the Lord! In the Lord my mouth rejoices! For I rejoice in your salvation. "This is the beginning of Ana's song, which she sang after Samuel's birth as a way to thank God for hearing his prayers.

Luke 1:46-47: "And Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior." This is the beginning of the song of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who is similar to the song of Ana in 1 Samuel 2. Both women expressed their gratitude to God for their faithfulness and kindness.

James 5:16: "Confess, therefore, your sins to each other and pray for each other, to be healed. The prayer made by a righteous can much in its effects." This verse talks about the importance of prayer and mutual support in the Christian community, something Ana found in the house of God, where she poured her heart before the Lord.
