Leviticus, 20

17. And if a man shall take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it [is] a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister's nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.

Verses related to Leviticus, 20:

Leviticus 20 presents a list of punishments for various transgressions, including forbidden sex, idolatry and other practices considered abominable in the eyes of God. Below are five verses related to the themes of the chapter:

Deuteronomy 22:22 "If it is discovered that a man is lying with another man's wife, both must die, the man who is lying with his wife and his own woman. So you will eliminate the evil of Israel." This verse shows that adultery punishment is not exclusive to Leviticus 20, but it is a law that appears in other parts of the Bible.

Deuteronomy 18:9-12 "Do not be found among you who practice guessing, who practice magic, who interprets omens, who practices witchcraft, who makes enchantments, who consult spirits or mediums, or who invokes the dead. Anyone who does these things It is abominable to the Lord. " This verse prohibits the practice of witchcraft, something that is mentioned as one of the transgressions in Leviticus 20.

2 Kings 23:10 "He [King Josiahs] dishonored the places of cultural prostitution that were in the temple of the Lord, where women were weakened in honor of Goddess Asherah." The worship of other gods, including the goddess Asherah mentioned in this verse, is prohibited in Leviticus 20.

Leviticus 20:13 "If a man lie with another man as if he were with a woman, they both committed an abominable act. They must be performed by their own sins." This verse prohibits male homosexuality and is an example of the application of the punishments mentioned in Leviticus 20.

Jeremiah 32:35 "They [the people of Judah] built the high places of Baal in the valley of Ben-Hinom, to sacrifice their children and their daughters to the God Moloque, although I have never ordered them, nor has passed through my mind to do such an abominable thing and lead Judah to sin. " This verse shows that the sacrifice of children to pagan gods was a practice considered abominable by God, which is also forbidden in Leviticus 20.
