Jeremiah, 8

14. Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fenced city, and let us be silent there: for the Lord our God hath put us to silence, and hath given us water of gall to drink: for we have sinned against the Lord.

Chapter 8 of Jeremiah deals with the unbelief and lack of repentance of the people of Judah, which refuses to recognize the seriousness of their sins and to turn to God. Next, I present five verses related to these themes:

Isaiah 55:6-7: "Seek the Lord as long as one can find, invoke him while he is near. Leave the wicked his way, and the evil man his thoughts; turn to the Lord, who shall be sympathetic to him; To our God, because it is abundant in forgiving. " This verse encourages people to seek God as long as there is time, abandoning their sinful ways and turning to the Lord, who is abundant in forgiving.

Ezekiel 33:11: "Tell them, as well as I live, says the Lord Jehovah, that I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but in which the wicked becomes his way and live. of your evil ways, why will you die, O house of Israel? " This verse highlights God's desire that people turn to Him and live, instead of persisting in their sins and die.

Psalm 51:17: "Sacrifices to God are the broken Spirit; to a broken and contrite heart thou shalt not despise, O God." This verse emphasizes that the true sacrifice to God is a broken and contrite heart, not simply external rituals.

Proverbs 28:13: "He who covers his transgressions will never prosper; but what confesses them and leaves them will reach mercy." This verse highlights the importance of confession and abandonment of sins, as a condition for God's mercy.

Isaiah 1:18: "Come, and let us, say the Lord; even if your sins are like scarlet, they will become white like snow; even if they are red as Carmesim, they will become like white wool. " This verse presents the offer of forgiveness and restoration that God makes to his people, even if his sins are many and serious.
