Haggai, 1

1. In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, governor of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, saying:

Chapter 1 of Haggai begins with a rebuke of God to the people of Judah for neglecting the reconstruction of the temple while working in their own homes and businesses. The prophet urges the people to turn their attention to the temple and the service of God, promising that God's blessing will come upon them.
