Baruch, 3

4. Lord, all-powerful God of Israel, listen then to the prayers of the dead of Israel. We are the sons of those who sinned against you, who did not listen to the voice of their God, and this is why disgrace has come upon us.

Baruc 3 is a chapter of the Old Testament that presents a sorry prayer, in which the Jewish people recognize that they have disobeyed God and now suffer the consequences. Nehemiah 9:33: "However, you are just in everything that has happened to us, for you acted with faithfulness, but we sin." This verse recognizes God's righteousness to allow the people to suffer the consequences of their sins, but also highlights God's faithfulness to fulfill their promises.
