1 Kings, 1

25. For indeed, today he has gone down to sacrifice oxen, fattened calves and plenty of sheep. He has invited all the king's sons, Joab, the commander of the army, and Abiathar the priest. They are now eating and drinking with him and proclaiming, 'Long live King Adonijah!'

Verses related to 1 Kings, 1:

1 Kings 1 deals with David's succession to the throne of Israel. When David is already old and debilitated, Adonias, his eldest son, tries to usurp the throne for himself. However, the prophet Nathan and Bathsheba, Solomon's mother, interfere to ensure that the successor chosen by David is Solomon, the youngest son. Below are five verses related to the topics addressed in 1 Kings 1:

Proverbs 20:29: "The glory of young people is their strength; and the beauty of the old are the babies." This verse highlights the physical weakness that advanced age can bring, as is the case of David in 1 Kings 1.

1 Chronicles 22:9: "Behold, a Son shall be born to you, who will be a man of rest; for I will give him rest of all his enemies around; for Solomon will be his name, and peace and peace I will give Israel in his days. " This verse is a David prophecy about Solomon, which is fulfilled in 1 Kings 1, when Solomon is chosen as a successor to the throne.

Proverbs 31:1: "The words of King Lemuel; the instruction that his mother gave him." This verse shows the importance of mothers in the education and formation of children, as is the case with Bathsheba in 1 Kings 1.

2 Samuel 12:24: "And he comforted Bathsheba, his wife, his son, and took her for a wife, and had with her a son; and called his name Solomon; and the Lord loved him." This verse reports the birth of Solomon, son of David and Bathsheba, who is later chosen as a successor to the throne in 1 Kings 1.

2 Samuel 23:1-2: "These are the last words of David, says David, son of Jesse, says the man who was raised at height, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the soft in Psalms of Israel. From the Lord spoke for me, and his word is in my mouth. " These verses show David's divine authority as king of Israel and, therefore, the importance of his choice of successor in 1 Kings 1.
