St. Luke 1 describes the conception and birth of John the Baptist and Jesus, as well as reporting the encounter between Mary and Isabel, and the song of the magnificent of Mary. The story of Zacarias, father of John the Baptist, and the announcement of the angel Gabriel to him is also presented. Following are five verses related to the topics covered in St. Luke 1:

Genesis 18:14: "Is there a thing too difficult for the Lord? In the determined time, I will return to you, and Sarah will have a son." This verse presents an example of God's faithfulness to fulfill his promises, even if they seem impossible.

Isaiah 40:3: "A voice cries out: In the desert prepare the way of the Lord; in the arid earth open a road to our God." This verse prophesies the coming of John the Baptist, who would prepare the way for Jesus.

Micah 5:2: "But you, Bethlehem-Frata, although too small to appear as a group of thousands of Judah, will come out what will reign in Israel, and whose origins have been since ancient times, since the days of eternity." This verse prophesies the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem.

1 Samuel 1:11: "And made a vow, saying, Lord of hosts! Benignly be aware of the affliction of your servant, and you remember, and your servant do not forget, but give you a man, to you, to you Lord I will give him every day of his life, and on his head it will not go. " This verse presents an example of a sterile woman who prays to God for a son, just like Isabel and Ana, mother of Samuel.

Malachi 4:5: "Behold, I will send you the prophet Elijah, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes." This verse is quoted by Jesus in talking about John the Baptist in Matthew 17:10-13, showing how the Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled with the birth of John and Jesus.
