Jeremiah 41 describes the murder of Gedaliah, the governor appointed by the Babylonians to govern the remnant of Judah after the fall of Jerusalem. Ishmael, a royal descendant, forest gedalia and many other Jews and Babylonians who were with him. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter:
2 Kings 25:25: "But it happened that, in the seventh month came Ishmael, son of Netanias, son of Elisama, of royal descent, and ten men with him, and wounded Gedaliah, and he died, along with the Jews and The Chaldeans who were with him in Mizpá. This verse is spoken by Jeremiah to the Jews who wanted to escape to Egypt after the murder of Gedaliah. He relates to Jeremiah 41 because both chapters talk about the fear of the people and their attempts to protect themselves.
2 Kings 25:23: "But when all the army captains and their men heard that the king of Babylon had named Gedaliah by governor, gedaliah came to Mizpá; but Ishmael, son of Netanias, and Joan , son of Careá, and Seraías, son of Tanumette, of Netofa, and Jaazanias, son of the Maacatite, they and their men.
