Isaiah, 18

2. which sends ambassadors by sea and in vessels of papyrus above the waters. Go forth, O swift Angels, to a nation which has been convulsed and torn apart, to a terrible people, after whom there is no other, to a nation apprehensive and downtrodden, whose land the rivers have spoiled.

Isaiah 18 deals with Isaiah's prophetic vision about Ethiopia. The chapter begins with a description of the earth that is inhabited by a tall and slender people who live along the banks of the rivers. Then the prophet talks about the message God has to the Ethiopian people and how this message will be delivered. The following verses are related to the topics addressed in Isaiah 18:

Psalm 68:31: "Princes will come from Egypt; Ethiopia will soon extend to God his hands." This verse indicates that Ethiopia will seek God and turn to Him.

Jeremiah 46:9: "Go up, O horses; Furious, O War Cars! Get out, soldiers: Men of Cush and Pute who wield shields and men of Lydia who handle arches and arrows." This verse refers to the Ethiopian armies that were called to fight.

Psalm 105:23: "Then Israel went to Egypt, and Jacob lived as a foreigner in the land of Cam." This verse refers to the fact that ethiopia is also known as the land of Cam.

Amos 9:7: "Are you not for me as the children of the Ethiopians, O Israelites? Declares the Lord." This verse indicates that God considers the Ethiopians as precious as the Israelites.

Sophons 3:10: "From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, my worshipers, my dispersion, will bring me offers." This verse refers to God's worshipers from Ethiopia who will bring him offers.
