Ezra, 10

16. And the sons of the transmigration did so. And Ezra, the priest, and the men who were the leaders of the families in the houses of their fathers, and all according to their names, went and sat down, on the first day of the tenth month, so that they might examine the matter.

Chapter 10 of Ezra talks about the restoration of the covenant of God with the people of Israel, after the discovery that many of the Jewish leaders had married foreign women, which was prohibited by God's law. Deuteronomy 7:3-4: "Do not be united in marriage with them, and do not allow your children to marry their children, for they would deviate them to worship other gods. This would lead to the wrath of the Lord against you and would result in yours destruction quickly. Ezra 9:2: "They brought some of their daughters like wives to their children, and so the Holy Race was mixed with the foreign peoples who lived in that land. This verse talks about the importance of marrying people who share the same faith and values, which is related to the theme of Ezra 10, as Jewish leaders were exhorted to divorce from foreign women and seek reconciliation with God.
