7. Why do ye overturn the minds of the children of Israel, that they may not dare to pass into the place which the Lord hath given them?
Numbers 32 addresses the granting of Gilead's land to the tribes of Rúben and Gade, as well as half of the tribe of Manasseh. They ask to dwell the earth to the east of the Jordan River, which was fertile to their flocks, and Moses agrees on the condition that these tribes help the other tribes to conquer the land of Canaan west of Jordan. Joshua 22:33: "The Israelites were pleased and no longer talked about going to the war against the Rubenites and the Gadites and destroying the land they lived in." This verse shows that the dispute was peacefully resolved, and the tribes of Rúben, Gade and half of the tribe of Manasseh could remain in their land granted east of the Jordan.
