2 Chronicles, 32

14. Who [was there] among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?

Verse im Zusammenhang mit 2 Chronicles, 32:

2 Chronicles 32 tells the story of Senaqueribe, king of Assyria, besieting Jerusalem and challenging the God of Israel. Hezekiah, king of Judah, trusted the Lord and led the people in prayer and preparation for battle. God responded to his faith and sent an angel to destroy the Assyrian army. Here are five verses related to the themes of this chapter:

Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and fortress, a good help in anguish." This verse talks about trust in God in times of danger and necessity, exactly what Hezekiah and the people of Judah did when they faced the Assyrian army.

Proverbs 21:31: "The horse is prepared for battle day, but victory comes from the Lord." This verse talks about the importance of preparation for battle, but also about the need to trust God for victory. Hezekiah led the people of Judah in preparation for the battle, but also trusted God for victory.

Isaiah 37:14-15: "Hezekiah took the letter from the hands of the messengers and read it; then he climbed to the house of the Lord and reached out before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, saying, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, What a dwelling among the cherubim, only you are God of all the kingdoms of the earth, you made the heavens and the earth. " This verse talks about the prayer of Hezekiah to God when he received a threatening letter from Senaqueribe. Hezekiah acknowledged that God was the only one who could help him in such a desperate situation.

Isaiah 37:36: "Then the angel of the Lord came out and killed at the Assyrian camp at one hundred and eighty -five thousand of them; and when the rest in the morning were lifted, behold, all were corpses." This verse describes how God sent an angel to destroy the Assyrian army and save Jerusalem. It was a powerful demonstration of the power of God and his faithfulness to his people.

Romans 8:31: "What do we say, therefore, to these things? If God is for us who will be against us?" This verse talks about the certainty of victory when you trust God. Hezekiah and the people of Judah trusted God and were victorious against the Assyrian army. It is a memory that God is always on the side of his children and that nothing can defeat those who trust him.
