1 Kings, 11

33. Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do [that which is] right in mine eyes, and [to keep] my statutes and my judgments, as [did] David his father.

Verse im Zusammenhang mit 1 Kings, 11:

1 Kings 11 describes the apostasy of King Solomon, who disobeyed the Lord by marrying many foreign women and allowing them to introduce idolatry in Israel. The chapter also talks about the end of Solomon's reign and the division of the kingdom of Israel after his death. Here are five verses related to the topics addressed in 1 Kings 11:

Deuteronomy 17:17: "And you will not take many women to you, so that your heart may not deviate; and will not accumulate much silver and much gold." This verse shows how Solomon disobeyed this law of God, marrying many foreign women who brought idolatry to Israel.

1 Kings 11:4: For it succeeded that at the time when Solomon was old, his women perverted his heart to follow other gods; and his heart was not perfect to the Lord his God, as the heart of David, your father." 1 Kings 11:11: "And the Lord said to Solomon, For this has been in you, that you have not kept my covenant and my statutes that I sent you, I will surely tear to you this kingdom, and I will give it to your servant." This verse shows how God punished Solomon by his disobedience, dividing the kingdom of Israel after his death.

1 Kings 11:43: "And Solomon slept with his parents, and was buried in the city of David, his father; and Robuam, his son, reigned in his place." This verse shows how Solomon's reign came to an end, leaving a mixed legacy of great wisdom and wealth, but also of disobedience and apostasy.
