6. Of the sons of Merari, Asaia the chief, and his brethren two hundred and twenty.
1 Chronicles 15 narrates David's second attempt to bring the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem, this time following God's instructions to transport it correctly. The chapter highlights the importance of worship and music in the worship of God. From this chapter, I chose five verses related to the themes of worship, music, holiness, obedience, and leadership, which can be found in other parts of the Bible.
Psalm 95:6: "O come, let us worship and prostrate; let us kneel before the Lord, who created us." David understood the importance of worshiping God with reverence and submission. This verse of Psalm 95 highlights the importance of worshiping God with humility.
Psalm 150:4: "Praise it with adoufies and dances; praise it with stringed instruments and flutes." David valued music in the worship of God, and this verse of Psalm 150 highlights the importance of using musical instruments to praise God.
Leviticus 11:44: "For I am the Lord, your God, therefore sanctify and thirst holy, for I am holy." David understood the importance of holiness in worshiping God, and this verse of Leviticus highlights the importance of holiness in our lives.
Deuteronomy 28:1: "And if you hear the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to keep all your commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will exalt you over all the nations of the earth." David learned from his previous mistakes and followed God's instructions to transport the ark correctly. This verse of Deuteronomy highlights the importance of obedience to God's commandments.
2 Chronicles 5:12-13: "And the Levites played, all of them, cymbals, lutes and harps, being already two hundred and twenty singers with their unison voices, to make one sound, to praise and celebrate the Lord; Raising them their voice with trumpets, cymbals and other musical instruments, and praising the Lord, saying, because he is good, because his kindness lasts forever, then the house filled with a cloud, namely, the house of the Lord. " This verse of 2 chronicles highlights the importance of David's leadership in the organization of God worship and how worship and music can lead to the manifestation of God's presence.
