Chapter 13 of 1 Maccabees continues the narrative of the war between Judas Macabeus and the enemies of the people of Israel. In this chapter, Judas leads a battle against the troops of King Antiochus and is successful in defeating them. Following are five verses related to the topics addressed in 1 Maccabees 13:

2 Maccabees 15:22-23: "being all so happy, they spent the night in the countryside. And the next day, near noon, they marched to the fortress." These verses show the joy of the people of Israel after the victory of Judas and the continuation of the battle against the enemy.
