In Jeremiah 44, God condemns the people of Judah for their continuous disobedience and for persisting to worship foreign gods. You will not even worship them, for I, the Lord, your God, I am a zealous God, who punishes the iniquity of parents in their children until the third and fourth generation of those who despise me. " This verse emphasizes the importance of God's exclusive worship and how idolatry is a serious sin.
