2 Chronicles, 32

31. And so in the matter of the envoys of the princes of Babylon, who had been sent to him to inquire about the sign that had been done in the land, God left him to himself, in order to try him and to know all that was in his heart.

2 Chronicles 32 tells the story of Senaqueribe, king of Assyria, besieting Jerusalem and challenging the God of Israel. Hezekiah, king of Judah, trusted the Lord and led the people in prayer and preparation for battle. God responded to his faith and sent an angel to destroy the Assyrian army. Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and fortress, a good help in anguish." This verse talks about trust in God in times of danger and necessity, exactly what Hezekiah and the people of Judah did when they faced the Assyrian army.

" This verse talks about the prayer of Hezekiah to God when he received a threatening letter from Senaqueribe. Hezekiah acknowledged that God was the only one who could help him in such a desperate situation.

Isaiah 37:36: "Then the angel of the Lord came out and killed at the Assyrian camp at one hundred and eighty -five thousand of them; and when the rest in the morning were lifted, behold, all were corpses." This verse describes how God sent an angel to destroy the Assyrian army and save Jerusalem. It was a powerful demonstration of the power of God and his faithfulness to his people.

Romans 8:31: "What do we say, therefore, to these things? If God is for us who will be against us?" This verse talks about the certainty of victory when you trust God. Hezekiah and the people of Judah trusted God and were victorious against the Assyrian army. It is a memory that God is always on the side of his children and that nothing can defeat those who trust him.
