1 Samuel, 1

22. But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, "As soon as the child is weaned, I will bring him, that he may appear in the presence of the LORD, and abide there for ever."

1 Samuel 1 tells the story of Ana, a sterile woman who fervently prayed for a son. God answered his supplications and she gave birth to Samuel, who later became a great prophet of Israel. Here are five verses related to topics covered in this chapter:

James 5:16: "Confess, therefore, your sins to each other and pray for each other, to be healed. The prayer made by a righteous can much in its effects." This verse talks about the importance of prayer and mutual support in the Christian community, something Ana found in the house of God, where she poured her heart before the Lord.
