2 Kings, 8

9. So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a present the best that Damascus could offer, a load for forty camels. He arrived and, presenting himself, said, 'Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to ask you, "Shall I recover from my illness?"

Chapter 8 of 2 Kings tells the story of Hazael, a man who would eventually become king of Syria, and his interaction with the prophet Elisha and King Jehora of Israel. Hazael visits Elisha disguised and asks about the health of King Jeorão, while in fact he was interested in knowing if he would be able to become king. Later, Elisha sends one of his disciples to anoint Hazael as king of Syria, but also prophesies that he will cause much destruction. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in 2 Kings 8:

Isaiah 7:16: "For before the boy knows how to say 'daddy' or 'mom', the power of apricot and the spoil of Samaria will be taken by the king of Assyria." This verse talks about the fall of apricot, which is mentioned in 2 Kings 8:7.

2 Kings 9:14: "Then Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat and grandson of Ninsi, conspired against Jorno." This verse begins the story of Jehu, which later becomes king of Israel. 2 Kings 10:32: "In those days, the Lord began to reduce the territory of Israel. Hazael defeated the Israelites throughout the east of Jordan." This verse talks about Hazael's actions, which is presented in 2 Kings 8 as a future king of Syria and that causes destruction in Israel, fulfilling Elisha's prophecy.
