Chapter 10 of Ezra talks about the restoration of the covenant of God with the people of Israel, after the discovery that many of the Jewish leaders had married foreign women, which was prohibited by God's law. The solution found was that these leaders should divorce these women in order to purify and reconcile with God. Here are five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter:
Deuteronomy 7:3-4: "Do not be united in marriage with them, and do not allow your children to marry their children, for they would deviate them to worship other gods. This would lead to the wrath of the Lord against you and would result in yours destruction quickly. " This verse relates to the theme of Ezra 10, as Jewish leaders had married foreign women, which was considered a violation of God's law.
Ezra 9:2: "They brought some of their daughters like wives to their children, and so the Holy Race was mixed with the foreign peoples who lived in that land. This verse talks about the importance of marrying people who share the same faith and values, which is related to the theme of Ezra 10, as Jewish leaders were exhorted to divorce from foreign women and seek reconciliation with God.
