Chapter 6 of 1 Timothy deals mainly with issues related to money and wealth, emphasizing the importance of not putting our confidence in material goods, but in God. Proverbs 23:4-5: "Don't worry about getting rich, stop thinking about how you can make money. Because money will surely disappear over time. It can fly like an eagle and disappear in the sky." This verse highlights the importance of not worrying about getting rich and accumulating riches, in line with the teaching of 1 Timothy 6 about the need not to put our confidence in material wealth.
1 Timothy 6:10 (another chapter): "Because love of money is the root of all ills. Some people, eager for money, have deviated from faith and tormented themselves with many sufferings." This verse, although from the same book, is in a different chapter and reinforces the main message of 1 Timothy 6 on the dangerous obsession with wealth.
Proverbs 15:27: "He who is greedy disturbs his own home, but who hates the bribery will live." This verse emphasizes the dangers of putting money above all and the importance of living a just and honest life, without giving in to greed and corruption.
2 Timothy 2:22: "But it runs away from the passions of youth. Following justice, faith, love and peace with those who, with pure heart, invoke the Lord." This verse highlights the importance of seeking justice and holiness, instead of being carried away by carnal passions and desires.
1 Peter 2:11: "Beloved, I insist that, as foreigners and pilgrims in the world, you abstain from the carnal desires that war against the soul." This verse reinforces the message of 2 Timothy 2:22 and highlights the importance of maintaining a life of righteousness and holiness, rather than being led by carnal desires.
