Jeremiah, 36

9. And it happened that, in the fifth year of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, in the ninth month, they proclaimed a fast, in the sight of the Lord, to all the people in Jerusalem, and to the entire multitude which had flowed together, from the cities of Judah, into Jerusalem.

Jeremiah 36 narrates the time when the Lord commanded Jeremiah to write all the words He had spoken against Israel and Judah in a roll and read it aloud to the people in the temple. Psalm 119:11: "I keep your words in the heart, not to sin against you." The people of Judah needed to keep God's words in their hearts not to sin against Him.

Proverbs 29:1: "The man who, once rebuked, harden the cervix will be broken suddenly, without healing." King Jehokim was rebuked by the words of the roll, but he hardened his heart and was broken.

1 Peter 1:25: "But the word of the Lord remains forever. And this is the word that was evangelized among you." God's words are eternal and remain forever, and must be proclaimed to all.
