1 Samuel 25 narrates the story of Abigail, wife of Nabal, a rude and foolish man who refuses to help David and his men in a moment of necessity. Abigail, in turn, takes the initiative to provide food and supplies for David, thus avoiding a war between her husband and the future king. Proverbs 15:1: "The mild answer deflects the furor, but the word lasts raises anger." Abigail is an example of how a kind answer can avoid conflict and promote peace.
Proverbs 21:9: "It is better to live in a roof corner than to have as a companion at a large house a quarrelsome woman." Nabal is an example of a rude and quarrelsome man who ends up in a dangerous situation because of his behavior.
Proverbs 25:21-22: "If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he thirsty, give him water to drink; for thou shalt huddle alive embers on his head, and the Lord shall reward you. " Abigail demonstrates generosity and compassion by providing food and supplies to David and her men, even though he knew that her husband was a rude and foolish man.
Ecclesiastes 7:9: "Do not have a rush in your spirit to anger, because wrath rests within the fools." David shows wisdom by refusing to retaliate against Nabal and his men, although he was insulted and disrespected.
Romans 12:19: "You shall not avenge yourselves, beloved, but give the wrath of God, for it is written, My is revenge; I will reward, say the Lord." David trusts God to deal with those who offend him, instead of seeking revenge on his own.
