1 Maccabees, 9

16. And those who were with the left horn saw that the right horn was crushed, and so they followed after Judas, and those who were with him, at their back.

1 Maccabees 9 describes the war between the armies of Judas Macabeu and Baquids, General of the Seleucid King. The chapter begins with a description of the Backet Strategy to attack Judas and his men, followed by a battle that occurs on a mountainous slope. 2 Samuel 2:26: "Then Abner called Joab and said," Will the sword happen to devour indefinitely? Don't you know that in the end there will be bitterness? This verse addresses the theme of persecution, which is one of the main questions in chapter 9 of 1 Maccabees, where Baquids pursues Judas Macabeu and his men.

2 Chronicles 20:15: "He said unto him, Listen to me, all of Judah and Jerusalem, and you, O Jehoshaphat!
