This is why the place is called Beer-sheba; the two took an oath there. (Genesis 21,31)

Abraham planted a tamarisk at Beer-sheba, and there he invoked by name the LORD, God the Eternal. (Genesis 21,33)

Then God said: "Take your son Isaac, your only one, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. There you shall offer him up as a holocaust on a height that I will point out to you." (Genesis 22,2)

Thereupon Abraham took the wood for the holocaust and laid it on his son Isaac's shoulders, while he himself carried the fire and the knife. (Genesis 22,6)

When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. Next he tied up his son Isaac, and put him on top of the wood on the altar. (Genesis 22,9)

"Ah, if only you would please listen to me! I will pay you the price of the field. Accept it from me, that I may bury my dead there." (Genesis 23,13)

"Never take my son back there for any reason," Abraham told him. (Genesis 24,6)

"The LORD, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and the land of my kin, and who confirmed by oath the promise he then made to me, 'I will give this land to your descendants'--he will send his messenger before you, and you will obtain a wife for my son there. (Genesis 24,7)

If the woman is unwilling to follow you, you will be released from this oath. But never take my son back there!" (Genesis 24,8)

Then he asked her: "Whose daughter are you? Tell me, please. And is there room in your father's house for us to spend the night?" (Genesis 24,23)

There is plenty of straw and fodder at our place," she added, "and room to spend the night." (Genesis 24,25)

If, therefore, you have in mind to show true loyalty to my master, let me know; but if not, let me know that, too. I can then proceed accordingly." (Genesis 24,49)
